Are Mac Computers Better To Own Than Windows Based Computers?

by Ron Freeman

Computers have been a part of my life for more than twenty years now and I don\’t know what I would do without them. They sure have advanced a lot over the years.

Those first computers that were so slow and had to have disks in them so they could function are obsolete, and now super machines have taken the world by storm and can be bought for a price that is quite affordable.

PCs are what I used growing up and I really liked using the systems that were Windows-based for quite a while. I had a very good understanding of them and could easily make use of all the available software.

Sometime later is when I made the decision to try a Mac instead. The great benefit of making use of these computers was something I had been hearing about for a while.

I was told by some people that a Mac would not slow down like a PC does and would not have viruses exposed to it either. The result would be a computer that is going to last so much longer, thus really offsetting the fact that the price I would pay would be nearly doubled.

Well I chose to buy one due to all the recommendations my friends gave me. After the fact, this is what I can say to you concerning this decision. I am extremely glad that I made the decision to take this route.

Yes, I do miss my PC, as well as all the important pieces of software that I ran on it; however, I have just discovered the way to alleviate that problem. All you need to do is install a piece of software, such as VMware or Parallels, and then you can do that same thing by yourself.

Try out a Mac if you\’re looking for a new computer. I can officially say that I\’m a converted Apple lover after many years of using PCs. I have a healthier computer that runs faster and for the first time ever, I have a computer that hasn\’t shown its signs of age after a few years.

DIY Data Recovery Or Leave It To The Experts

by Ron Cripps

In the ever escalating world of computing, computer information recovery is something that we all know about and call upon to recover lost data. The method of data recovery is a very complex, course of action that you should never try to perform yourself since computer hard drives above all, are very fragile and require added special care when they are maintained. You have to be very assiduous with the tiny components within them, and that is why only a qualified specialist should be trying the data recovery.

When you first present the hard drive to a service center, they’ll do an assessment then make contact with you and tell you of the issue, along with the cost. When this occurs, the person might elect that the cost is much too pricey and endeavor to do the data recover on their own. In a large amount cases, where persons attempt data recovery themselves, the data is so far gone that even the most excellent data recovery authority cannot recapture it.

When your hard disk crashes and data cannot be accessed, most individuals will consider sourcing a disk repair program. This is not a brilliant notion, because the program would normally write to the your disk, causing the information which is currently stored to be erased. Such types of software applications can be very complicated, and on average, will not handle the trouble. Software programs such as these should be avoided at all expense, for the clear-cut fact that they will not repair the data they will just make things shoddier.

An added common oversight individuals make, which must not be considered at all, is to open up the disk drive and have a crack to rebuild it. Computer disks are chock-full of very delicate components, most being extremely tiny, and very delicate. The platters are the most sensitive within a hard drive, as they are small and contain a layer of magnetized material that is extremely delicate, and sensitive to debris, dust, and especially your fingerprints.

If you try to play around with your drive and make an attempt to rebuild it yourself, you’ll more than likely damage it further. The experts which work in data recovery on a daily basis are experts with hard drives, and appreciate precisely how to work with these components. They are aware of exactly how to move the platters, the actuator arm, and the way to place the whole thing back in a decent working fashion.

Some have suggested that thumping or even dropping a hard drive can fix customary hardware issues. This is not the case, because hard disks may simply break if they’re abused at all. The parts contained with-in are extremely delicate and don’t respond kindly in the least to any type of misuse or physical mistreatment.

When whatever thing occurs to the drive and you lose data, you must always trust the data recovery experts. Computer Tech stores who specialize in data recovery can recover your data, and do it the right way which can save you time and money in the long run.

10 Methods To Turbocharge Windows XP

by John Jones

Many people want to make the most of their hardware, especially if it means you don’t have to buy a new machine in this economy. Here are 10 simple tips on how to make your Windows XP computer run faster without having to purchase additional hardware.

1. Defrag Disk to Speed Up Access to Data – One of the factors that slow the performance of the computer is disk fragmentation. Disk fragmentation really can slow down your computer. Just go to accessories and find a dusty fragments are and let that run. It might take all afternoon, but it should speed up your machine. There are also several paid apps available as well.

2. Detect and Repair Disk Errors – Over time, your hard disk develops bad sectors. Bad sectors can severly hurt disk performance. To detect and repair disk errors, Windows has a built-in tool called the Error Checking utility. It will meticulously search the hard disk for bad sectors and system errors and repair them for better performance.

3. Disable Indexing Services – Indexing Services is a little application that uses a lot of CPU. By indexing and updating lists of all the files on the computer, it helps you to do a search for something faster as it scans the index list. But if you know where your files are, you can disable this system service. It won’t do any harm to you machine, whether you search often or not very often.

4. Optimize Display Settings – Windows XP is a looker. But it costs you system resources that are used to display all the visual items and effects. Windows looks fine if you disable most of the settings and leave only a few necessary bells and whistles. Use a simpler theme or turn off some of the destop effects. Another option is to run fewer programs that are graphically intense.

5. Speedup Folder Browsing – You may have noticed that everytime you open My Computer to browse folders that there is a little delay. This is because Windows XP automatically searches for network files and printers everytime you open Windows Explorer. To fix this and to increase browsing speed, you can disable the “Automatically search for network folders and printers” option.

6. Disable Performance Counters – Windows XP has a performance monitor utility which monitors several areas of your PC’s performance. These utilities take up system resources so disabling is a good idea.

7. Optimize Your Pagefile – You can optimize your pagefile. Setting a fixed size to your pagefile saves the operating system from the need to resize the pagefile. Windows XP sizes the page file to about 1.5X the amount of actual physical memory by default. While this is good for systems with smaller amounts of memory (under 512MB) it is unlikely that a typical XP desktop system will ever need 1.5 X 512MB or more of virtual memory. If you have less than 512MB of memory, leave the page file at its default size. If you have 512MB or more, change the ratio to 1:1 page file size to physical memory size.

8. Remove Fonts for Speed – Fonts, especially TrueType fonts, use quite a bit of system resources. For optimal performance, trim your fonts down to just those that you need to use on a daily basis and fonts that applications may require.

9. Use a Flash Memory to Boost Performance – To improve performance, you need to install additional RAM memory. It’ll let you boot your OS much quicker and run many applications and access data quicker. On vista you can use a program called ReadyBoost to do this, on XP programs like eBoost can help.

10. Perform a Boot Defragment – There’s a simple way to speed up XP startup: make your system do a boot defragment, which will put all the boot files next to one another on your hard disk. When boot files are in close proximity to one another, your system will start faster. On most systems, boot defragment should be enabled by default, but it might not be on yours, or it might have been changed inadvertently.

I hope this article help you improve your computer’s performance. Even just a little. here’s a bonus tip for you if you browse the web or a lot, you should check out Google’s new browser is the fastest browser currently available and could really speed up your Web applications as well.
