How can Social Networking Generate Free Leads?

by Jan Shimano

On checking out the popular social networking sites, I noticed that a number of the most successful internet marketers have a high presence. These sites, however, are not meant for promoting your own business or affiliates. The general idea, is to interact with others, getting to know them, exchanging ideas and knowledge and then when it seems appropriate, sharing information on opportunities that might help them.

Every day new social networking sites are being created. However, right now the most popular are Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. A new up-and-coming site is BetterNetworker. The people behind this site are Mike Dillard and Perry Belcher. It is my prediction that by this time next year, BetterNetworker will be receiving a very large piece of the social networking pie.

TWITTER — This is a micro-blogging service and there is no cost to join. You send messages to other users and these posts are called “tweets”. They are only in text form and you are limited to 140 characters per post. This is where you can put your copywriting skills to the test! You can connect your Twitter account to your Facebook account and when you post on one it will appear on the other site also.

FACEBOOK — It is also a free website that is privately owned and operated by Facebook Inc. Within Facebook you can join networks that are organized by city, workplace, school or region, to connect and interact with others. You can add ‘friends’ and send them messages. You can also upload pictures and short video. Facebook attracted 132.1 million unique visitors in June, 2008.

MY SPACE — Once again, another free site with an interactive network of friends, blogs, groups, personal profiles, music, video and photos. My space is international, as are the other social networking sites mentioned here. Back in June of 2006 it was the most popular networking site in the U.S. However, in April, 2008 it was taken over in popularity by Facebook. However, it still attracts approximately 230,000 new users per day.

BETTERNETWORKER — The latest social networking site is the ‘brainchild’ of Mike Dillard, the creator of Magnetic Sponsoring and many other popular programs. This site is working very hard to be true to it’s purpose and not be a smokescreen for pitching product or service, without contributing something of value to the members. To date, I have seen an impressive exchange of useful information on BetterNetworker and I highly recommend it.

A word of caution when it comes to using these sites…..many useless hours can be spent reading through posts, blogs, watching videos etc. Some people think that it is a quick fix to adding hundreds of people to your mailing list and it definitely is not. However, if done right it can produce great results. A good friend of mine has developed a very large following on Twitter and recently he sent a ‘tweet’ about a new opportunity. His followers went to the recommended site and a week or so later my friend had earned in excess of $40,000.00 in affiliate commissions. This was his reward for building a large group of followers who trusted, respected and liked him.

Social networking has become an integral part of doing business on the internet for a great percentage of the top producers involved in network marketing. They would not be spending the time to do this if it wasn’t lucrative for them. Yes, if this is done properly it can certainly reap rich rewards.

Illinois Public Arrest Records

by Jed Elaine

As the Illinois criminal records are part of the public domain, anybody interested in searching these records can be granted permission to do so. Even though these are public records, the use of any information derived from these is governed by legislation, put in place to protect the right to privacy all individuals are entitled to. If the information were to be used for a background check for employment or voluntary work for example, then the person concerned would have to give prior consent for the use of his or her information for this check.

Any search of Illinois criminal records would start at the Illinois State Police where any and all information relating to criminal matters is held on file. This however will require the payment of a $16.00 search fee. Other sources of information regarding Illinois criminal records would be the state Circuit Courts. A database is also held at Jackson County, where searches can be done after payment of a $12.95 search fee.

Any criminal database maintained by a law enforcement agency is required to be up to date and maintained to a satisfactory level. Law enforcement agencies tend to share information, so these records can be disbursed to a wide range of agencies. Often, courts and even certain individuals will also be granted access. Quarterly, monthly or even daily information updates are carried out by the database operators. Obviously a regularly updated and well maintained database will result in more accurate arrest records information being available.

Statistics would indicate that Illinois criminal records show a higher arrest rate than the national average over the recent years. Despite this statistic, the overall number of arrests in the state has shown a decline. Despite this statistic, the overall number of arrests in the state has shown a decline. In rough figures, this is approximately a 28% decrease in the number of arrests made over a 12 year period.

As with most things these days, the most popular method for carrying out an Illinois criminal records check is the internet. If departmental formalities and bureaucracy become too painstaking, there are reasonably priced searches available from commercial record providers. Speed, ease of use and the ability to access private as well as public networks makes these alternative providers an excellent option. Typically, search results are available within minutes of executing the search.

Keep Important Office Documents Protected

by Leo Tenskyville

While the invention of the computer and digitized information has certainly made our lives less complicated, it has also presented certain challenges. For instance, what do you do to keep your data safe? Virtually anyone with an Internet connection is able to locate documents on another’s computer, so you should take the required steps to make sure that anything they can access has no value. This means that you need to protect any document containing sensitive information.

If you have a home or office computer you will want to ensure that no one can get on it by locking it whenever you are away from your desk and ensuring that anyone trying to access your computer needs a password to do so. To set a password on your computer find your Control Panel and select User Accounts, then click the create password button. If you are on a network you may require your system administrator to sign in.

By placing a password on your entire system you are setting up a first line of protection against would-be data thieves. Adding a password takes just a few steps. From your Windows Start Menu go to the Control Panel and select User Accounts. Select the option to create a password. You will want to choose a password that cant be easily guessed by anyone.Should someone get past your system password or access your computer via the Internet then all of your documents will be vunerable unless you takes measures to protect them as well. Any document that you feel may do harm in the hands of someone else should be password protected.MS Office 2007 makes it very simple to password protect your documents through a few simple

In the top left-hand corner select the Office Button Mouse over Prepare, then choose Encrypt Document Type in your password and click Save

If you have an older version of MS Office you can usually find the same features this way:

Go to File | Save As Select Tools | General Options at the top of the screen The Save Options screen will come up Enter a password and click OK Re-enter your password(s), then click OK when done Save the file

To make sure that you can always access your important files you may need to record your password somewhere safe, otherwise you may not be able to access a file when you need to.

As a second form of file protection you need to keep your files safe from computer problems. Imagine all of your most sacred files are lost due to a power outage or a problem with your hard drive. With a few clicks you can backup your files so that nothing should happen to them if your computer fails.

There are several options when it comes to backing-up your files:

1) CD-ROM: Nearly every computer comes with a CD drive, so make use of it by copying your important files to CD-ROM every once and a while. You will have to remember to copy your files, and keep the CD in a safe place where no one can get a hold of it, preferably fireproof as well.

2) USB Flash Drive: Small, lightweight and easy to use, these portable drives are perfect for keeping files safe, as long as you dont lose it. Password protect the drive just in case, and keep track of it at all times.

3) Online Storage: This is a sure fire way to keep your documents protected while at the same time making sure that you can access them from anywhere in the world. This is definitely handy if you happen to travel for business, as you dont have to worry about bungling that big presentation if your laptop gets lost, simply log on and retrieve the file. You can set up your computer to automatically synch with the online service so you never have to worry about files being out of date when you need them.

Using Password Recovery Software for MS Office

by Albert Von McZeally Albert Michael McZeally Alvin McZeally Alice McZeally

All of us want to protect ourselves. At home we have fire alarms, sprinklers and burglar alarms to keep our families safe. Car alarms and GPS for our cars keep our car and its occupants safe, and the rest of the time we are on the lookout for runaway cars, buses and those who would try to do us harm. For the same reasons we choose to protect our sensitive documents from anyone who would want to use the contents for something untoward.

By placing a password on your important files you are ensuring that your documents are safe from those who would seek to exploit it, such as identity thieves. If you own a business you will want to do the same for your financial information as well as and documents that contain info about your clients. While you may not think it is important now, if the data should ever get stolen you will be thankful for it.

The important thing is that no matter what password you choose for your files, you need to keep track of it. Nothing is more aggravating than trying to get into an important file and realizing that you forgot the password. Although writing down your passwords seem like a bad idea, if you are prone to forgetfulness it may be necessary. Above all you want to make sure that your passwords never fall into the wrong hands.

Luckily there are programs out there which are designed to help you recover your files should you forget the password. These programs, referred to as password recovery software, work in a few different ways to figure out what password you used.

Initially the program will try to open your document using a combination of letters and number to see if it can guess the right password. This may work to gain entry into your files, but if you used a long or complicated password that includes a variety of characters and symbols it may not succeed.

The second method is to go through the dictionary systematically and again try to hit on the right word. Most programs will allow you to customize your search and add numbers or symbols within the password if you know that is how you structured it. If neither method has results, then the software can try to disable the password protection on the file itself instead of trying to find the password.

While there are many software programs offered for no charge, most people will have little success in getting these programs to access their files. Investing a few dollars will get you a much more streamlined program that will give you a much better chance of accessing your file, and in less time.

Once you have recovered your files, you may want to consider an alternate method keeping track of your passwords so you dont forget them. If you have a mobile or PDA and you can password protect it, then it may be a good place to keep keys to your important files. That way your passwords are close by, but not linked to your computer.

The next time you are password protecting your documents, consider opening a secure document and saving your passwords in there, then make sure that the password you place on that document is 1) easy to remember and 2) complicated enough that a software recovery program couldn’t open it. Then you wont have to worry about lost passwords or unprotected files.
